The AUSTAFE Queensland Legend Award celebrates extraordinary contributions and leadership, honouring individuals who have made a lasting impact on VET through their exemplary and long-standing service of 15 years or more. Legends can be drawn from any category or level of staff, recognising those who have given distinguished service.
Winners will receive:
- One (1) year free AUSTAFE Queensland membership
- A trophy.
Prizes are non-transferable.
Selection criteria (Upload below)
Award applications are required to address the following criteria and must not exceed two (2) A4 pages:
- Impact and legacy: The individual has significantly influenced the VET sector through exemplary service spanning at least 15 years, leaving a lasting impact.
- Innovation and advocacy: The individual has achieved recognition for innovative practices, research, and/or advocacy to support and advance the VET sector.
- Respected and inspirational leadership: The individual is widely respected and acknowledged within the VET community, including among colleagues, industry partners, and students, for their exemplary leadership, significant contributions, and ability to inspire current and future generations of VET professionals to actively participate in and enhance the sector.
Guidelines and eligibility
- Legends must have a minimum of 15 years’ of VET service at the time of nominating.
- Either Legends and/or nominators can write the nomination.
- Nominations must not exceed two (2) A4 pages.
- Nominations must provide specific examples that demonstrate how nominees, in their current or past roles, meet the selection criteria.
- Criterion responses should adopt the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) model for clarity and structure.
- Nominations may include up to two (2) A4 letters of recommendation or endorsement.
- Nominees are not required to be current AUSTAFE Queensland members.
- Award winner/s will be determined by a selection panel formed by the AUSTAFE Queensland Executive.
- Awards cannot be awarded to the same person more than once.
- Award presentations will be made at the annual AUSTAFE Queensland Leaders and Legends Gala Dinner.
- AUSTAFE Queensland reserves the right to reject any nomination not complying with the guidelines and selection criteria.
